As a clinical psychotherapist from New York, Sherri is naturally drawn to mind and body wellness practices and enjoys assisting others in their own process of self-reflection. She’s a disciple of Sri Dharma Mittra, who has been her guru since 2011. His teachings inspire her to share the importance of yama and niyama that constitute a part of Ashtanga, or the eight limbs of yoga as prescribed by Sage Patanjali, which Sherri has beautifully written about for us.
She is a certified Dharma Yoga Teacher (200, 500, and 800 hours), in addition to other trainings with Radiantly Alive, Yin, Gong Yoga and a myriad of meditation courses. After receiving her Master’s Degree from New York University, Sherri offered therapy for the chronically ill while doing her post-graduate studies in Gestalt Psychotherapy, which focuses on the “here and now” and has many commonalities with yogic philosophy.
Sherri was introduced to yoga by her boyfriend (now husband) in 2003 when he took her to a class on their first date. Sherri was intrigued by the chanting in Sanskrit and it lit a spark of familiarity within her.
She is also the founder of Sattva Earth Jewelry (https://www.sattvaearth.com) that she creates to honor the healing powers of nature. She is currently developing Sattva Mind, a meditation and mental health app (soon to be available on all platforms).
Sherri spends time between Hong Kong, Bali and Singapore.
