On International Yoga Day this year, Yogahood brings the wellness community together online to soak in peace and positivity, gain inner strength, and calm the mind as chaos rules the world.

Take a day off to breathe well, stretch well and eat well.

This yoga fest is designed for
your body, your gut and your mind.

Immense gratitude to the teachers below who are dedicating their time to give back to the community with these free classes.

7 – 8am (SG) – Morning yoga with Zubin Atre

Kick off this wonderful day with AtréYoga – a five structured series of asanas developed by Zubin Atre. The methodology is based on an in-depth understanding of human anatomy and movement, aimed towards building an intelligent physiology and intrinsic awareness.The use of metaphors in guiding through the postures (asanas) makes it easier for students to understand the asana. The visual cues given together with the instructions make it easy for everyone on the mat to follow the class, even without previous experience in yoga.

Zubin is the founder of AtréYoga, a precise science aligning body, mind, and breath. A sports yoga specialist, Zubin is also a yoga author of the book “It takes two to Yoga“.

8.15 – 9AM (SG) – Breathe with Kavita Chandran

Learn 9 breathing techniques that help relieve anxiety and calm your mind. A daily Pranayama (yogic breathing) practice helps you turn inward and respond to every situation in a calm manner. Learn the Sanskrit names and a daily sequence to kick off your day.

Kavita is a yoga teacher, journalist and author. She was able to deal with her anxiety issues with the help of asana and pranayama, and she trained with Bharath Shetty, one of India’s leading yoga teachers in Mysore, India. Her journey with yoga led her to author the book “The Head that won’t Stand”.

9.15 – 10 AM (SG) – RA Vinyasa with Jasmine Dañino 

Experience a gentle flow in this slow breath-led class, where intentional movement and presence will be the priority of the practice. Jasmine is the owner of Radiantly Alive Yoga Studio in Ubud, Bali.

Originally from Peru, Jasmine and her team of yogis teach sessions that imbibe the legacy of yoga, healing, and community, creating a home away from home in Bali for many who visit. During these unprecedented times, Radiantly Alive has opened its doors to online classes.

10.15 – 11 AM (SG) – A Prescription For The Mind  With Subba 

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a treasure for these times of stress and anxiety as it contains a number of prescriptions to manage ourselves. In this class, Subba will help you focus on 4 steps to manage our emotions.

Subba is an experienced mindfulness practitioner and corporate leader. He has a deep personal practice of yoga and meditation spanning 20 years, and teaching the Yoga Sutras across the world.

11.15–12PM (SG) – A Meditative Practice With Pamposh Dhar

A set of visualisations and connections, one flowing into the other, to help us find our inner strength through stability, flexibility and flow – qualities that can help us flourish even in the most difficult of times. We will use breath and internal sight to connect to nature, to the elements, and to ourselves.

Pamposh Dhar is a holistic healer and founder of the Terataii wellness centre. She teaches easy and sometimes innovative ways to meditate. She leads practices that lead to inner peace and inner strength. She also teaches Reiki healing and offers counselling.

12.15 – 1PM (SG) – Our Relationship With Food With Luke Elijah 

Learn to get the most from the food that you eat to fuel your body, heal your gut and live your best life. Pick up some bonus tips to make your dishes look and taste like a palatable culinary piece of gourmet art.

Luke Elijah was born into a family of holistic healers and spiritual practitioners dating back four generations. A certified chef, Luke has studied in eight culinary institutes around the world, and is a motivational speaker and judge at various events.

1.15 –2PM (SG) – Eating As A Mindfulness Practice With Tansy Boggon

What better topic than this during ‘lunch time’ in Asia (those in other parts of the world – bring your snack along!)Nourish your body and mind over lunch with nutritionist and author, Tansy Boggon. Sit comfortably with your lunch or a snack as Tansy guides you through a mindful eating practice, and shares how tuning into the experience of eating can help transform our relationship with food.

Tansy is the author of the book, Joyful Eating: How to Break Free of Diets and Make Peace with Your Body. She provides online resources to help people learn to enjoy food without the internal rules, judgement, guilt and shame.

2.15 – 3PM (SG) – Yoga Therapy For Back Pain With Kuldeep Kushwah

Learn how to gradually relieve acute and chronic low back pain with therapeutic yoga postures for long term healing. Scientific studies have shown that yoga therapy can reduce aches, improve spinal mobility, strength and promote quality of life for those suffering with chronic back pain.

Kuldeep has a Ph.D. in Yoga from S-Vyasa Yoga University in Bangalore, India, and has more than 20 years of experience in yoga. He conducts yoga therapy courses and workshops in Singapore for various lifestyle disorders.

3.15 – 4 PM (SG) – Integrative & Holistic Yoga with Sujata Cowlagi

Sujata will share how we can create a sustainable home practice and remain inspired to integrate different facets of yoga for optimal wellbeing. Sujata will share self-care techniques based on Ayurveda, rooted in the principles of Dinacharya & Ritucharya daily routines and lifestyles.This session will offer a combination of technique and practices relevant and useful to all.

Sujata is an international expert on holistic and integrative health, wellness consultant, author and speaker with more than 20 years of experience.

4.15 – 5PM (SG) – Hatha Yoga With Grace Lee

In this class, you will practice basic asana (poses) to nourish the mind and the body. The focus is to find space and length in the body. The class will be conducted in a relaxing pace for mindful practice. Emphasis will be on proper alignment to maximise the benefits of each asana. This is an elementary class and is beneficial for beginners and regular practitioners.

Grace is a former banker. She began her yoga journey more than 30+ years ago, and is a passionate about wellness and fitness. She is a certified yoga and pilates instructor, and aerial yoga practitioner, and has a YouTube channel.

5.15 – 6PM (SG) – Ashtanga Mysore Yoga With Bharath Shetty

Learn Ashtanga style yoga from one of India’s most experienced yoga gurus who has his IndeaYoga institute in Mysore.

Bharath Shetty, a Yogacharya with 20+ years of yoga experience, is a direct disciple of BKS Iyengar. He has trained more than 1500 teachers across countries, and has conducted several workshops in many countries like Belgium, Germany, Malaysia, Switzerland, Thailand and India. Bharath is a teacher by profession, biker by passion.

6.15 – 7PM (SG) – Meditate With Nithya Shanti

Spend your last few minutes of this day soaking in all the wisdom that Nithya has to offer. Allow yourself to listen to him, follow his direction and emerge from this day-long wellness event with happiness and contentment. A great way to end our day!

Nithya Shanti is an internationally respected spiritual teacher, committed to sharing practical wisdom teachings for happiness. He was ordained as a Buddhist Monk in the Theravada tradition in 2002, and spent six years in forest meditation monasteries in Thailand, Sri Lanka and also various parts of India and the US.
